We’re pleased to welcome Mark Himbury as the newest member of our team. He’s joined us as a Senior Network Engineer, bringing with him plenty of experience (and enthusiasm) for all things IT. To help everyone get to know him a little better, we sat down for a quick Q&A where he shares how he got started in IT, what he enjoys most about the job, and what he’s looking forward to working on with us…
Mark, tell us a bit more about your role and responsibilities at Newburgh Networks?
As a Senior Network Engineer, I’m responsible for ensuring that our customers’ networks—whether existing, newly deployed, or prospective—are performing optimally. My role includes conducting site visits for both supported customers and potential referrals, assessing infrastructure, and delivering tailored solutions that align with their business needs.
How did you get started in IT?
My interest in IT began as a teenager, when I spent time building and experimenting with computers—often learning by trial and error. In my mid-twenties, I entered the industry through a technical support role at a major UK Internet Service Provider, assisting broadband customers. This experience laid the foundation for my transition into a trainee position at a small Managed Service Provider, where I began to develop a deeper understanding of the IT landscape and build my professional skill set.
What areas of IT do you specialise in?
My core specialisms include networking, telecommunications, and storage solutions. I’m particularly drawn to performance-driven technologies and systems. In addition to these areas, I consider myself a well-rounded technician with broad expertise across general IT infrastructure and support.
What do you enjoy most about working in IT?
The dynamic nature of the industry keeps things interesting—no two days are the same. I enjoy the challenge of solving complex problems, working with diverse teams and customers, and continuously learning as technology evolves.
And what are you most looking forward to working on here at Newburgh Networks?
I’m looking forward to contributing my experience and technical knowledge to the team, supporting our growth, and helping deliver high-quality solutions to our customers. Collaborating with colleagues and driving innovation within our service offerings is something I’m genuinely excited about.
And finally, what do you enjoy doing outside of work?
Outside of work, I enjoy spending quality time with family and friends, exploring new places, photography, and motorsport. These interests help me recharge and bring a fresh perspective to my professional life.
